January 29, 2019: It’s the official 158th birthday of the state of Kansas. And although this birthday celebration will (likely) be void of confetti and cake, there’s still a lot of fun to be had on Kansas Day! Here are some of the best events in Kansas City to celebrate our little rectangular, midwestern paradise.
Overland Park Arboretum
On January 26, between 10:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M., the Overland Park Arboretum will be hosting a Kansas Day party. Tales will be told, music will be played, and history will be repeated through a lively reenactment. This special Kansas Day event is free with admission, so go ahead and explore all 300 acres of the arboretum before and after the party. (We dare you!)

Kansas Museum of History
If you head west of our Overland Park Chevy dealership, you’ll eventually strike gold at the Kansas Museum of History in Topeka. That’s because, on January 29, the museum is offering free all-day admission to the public. Numerous STEM activities will be available, including a hands-on demonstration of old-timey arts and crafts. A special Wild West performance will also be showing throughout the afternoon. Get your learnin’ on!
