Popcorn in the Park – Aug. 9, 2019
The children’s film “Wonder Park” will be projected on the big screen at Stocksdale Park in Liberty, Missouri. Popcorn and water will be provided, but it’s recommended that you bring blankets, lawn chairs, and other snacks to this free August event. Tails on the Trails Pet Festival – Aug. 10, 2019
Hosted at the Ad Astra Pool and Park in Lenexa, KS, the Tails on the Trails festival is free for humans and just $5 for pooches who want to take a dip in the pool. More than a dozen local vendors will be slinging their pet goodies throughout the morning, and you can also watch the pet talent show at 11:00 AM. Bring Fido to the Museum – Aug. 10, 2019
From 10 AM to 12 PM, the area around Blue Jacket Park in Shawnee will be doggie-heaven – at least for all pups on leashes. Shawnee Town will be holding contests, giveaways, and other activities for families. Local vets, trainers, and groomers will also be giving out free advice samples. Food Truck Festival – Aug. 10, 2019

Touch-a-Truck – Aug. 11, 2019
Hosted at College Blvd. – which is just a hop, skip, and jump away from our Overland Park Chevy dealership – this family-friendly Touch-a-Truck event runs from 11 AM to 4 PM. Kids of all ages will be able to interact with over 40 enormous trucks and vehicles inside the Overland Park Convention Center. Bounce houses, crafts, live performances, music, and other activities will also be available. The event is free to attend, though donations are much appreciated; proceeds will go to Toys for Tots. 816 DAY at City Market – Aug. 16, 2019
Looks like Kansas City is celebrating National Family Fun Month, too! At this year’s 816 DAY, visitors will be able to savor some savory food, party at some outdoor parties, and shop at local shops all throughout the City Market Square. American Truck Show Circuit – Aug. 16-17, 2019
Now this is our kind of family event! The two-day ATSC event, hosted at Arrowhead Stadium, will offer everything from a competitive “Truck Light Show” to face painting to a “Wash and Show Ballot.” Kids can enjoy the Fun Zone, which will feature inflatables, games, balloon twisting, crafts, and free cotton candy. Parkville Days – Aug. 23-25, 2019
A fan-favorite event for families near Kansas City, this year’s Parkville Days will once again be hosted in the heart of Parkville, MO. Enjoy over 75 activities, arts and crafts, vendors, meals, and special performances throughout the weekend. Tiny Tot Triathlon – Aug. 24, 2019
Children between the age of 3 and 9 years of age will bike or trike their way through a wet-and-wild track at the Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park in Lenexa, KS. Before crossing the finish line, participants must slide down an inflatable water slide. Oh, the horror! Registration is $5 per child and includes a shiny medal once they complete the race. Dog Days of Summer – Aug. 24-25, 2019
The Kansas City Zoo’s annual Dog Days of Summer event begins this August. For 2 days, guests of the zoo can chat with certified zookeepers and watch exotic canines play, get trained, and munch on some icy treats. The event is free with admission or membership. Head to kansascityzoo.org for details.
